We first propose a definition of completeness for inductive procedures and exhibit some limitations of inverse resolution with respect to this definition. We then propose our model of inversion of logical entailment that extends inverse resolution with regard to these limitations. Two operators are formalized that implement this formal framework and we prove that they are complete. In the last part of the paper, we propose two possible controls for these operators, to restrict the search for an acceptable theory. These two controls express some semantic properties of the theory that the system is searching for.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/100","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/0100.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/100.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/bibtex/100","volume":{"slug":"1991","title":"Proceedings of the Twelfth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1991","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1991/","year":1991,"location":"Sydney, New South Wales, Australia","dates":"24-30 August 1991","editors":"John Mylopoulos and Ray Reiter","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Learning Be Knowledge Acquisition","track":"Learning Be Knowledge Acquisition","number":100,"pages":{"first":685,"last":690},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
