In particular, we consider which predicates in an expert, knowledge-based system should be actually stored and which should be derived on demand. We present two solutions for unconstrained applications. When realistic ~onstraints are present it is shown that the problem IS r:w-complete. A sub-optimal algorithm is given whtch operates in polynomial time when the application is not heavily constrained.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1989/35","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1989/0035.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1989/35.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1989/bibtex/35","volume":{"slug":"1989","title":"Proceedings of the Eleventh International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1989","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1989/","year":1989,"location":"Detroit, Michigan, USA","dates":"August 20-25 1989","editors":"N.
