Following the tradition of earlier work in AI, we present a model of P.lan rec?gnition as belief and intention ascriptwn, an mherently defeasible reasoning process . However, we encode this process using a direct argumentation system . Within this system, we can make explicit statements about why one candidate ascription should be preferred over another .. And we can avoid the overly strong assumptwn that the actor's plan is correct from the perspective of the observer -a n assumption that was necessary in previous formalizations of plan recognition.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1989/148","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1989/0148.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1989/148.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1989/bibtex/148","volume":{"slug":"1989","title":"Proceedings of the Eleventh International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1989","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1989/","year":1989,"location":"Detroit, Michigan, USA","dates":"August 20-25 1989","editors":"N.
