Objections from the AI literature against the adequacy of temporal argument theories are answered in the course of discussing representational issues for the developed logic. This logic \"accords a special status to time,\" distinguishes the temporal features of event occurrences from ordinary facts, and supports changing ontologies. We conclude that the method of temporal arguments remains a viable candidate for temporal reasoning in AI.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/89","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/0089.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/89.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/bibtex/89","volume":{"slug":"1987","title":"Proceedings of the Tenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1987","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/","year":1987,"location":"Milan, Italy","dates":"","editors":"John McDermott","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Knowledge Representation","track":"Knowledge Representation","number":89,"pages":{"first":449,"last":454},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
