The model of reasoning provided by possible-worlds semantics has been found deficient both for computational and intuitive reasons. Existing semantic approaches that were proposed as alternatives to possible-worlds semantics either suffer from computational intractability or do not allow agents to have meta-beliefs. This work, based on relevance logic, proposes a model of belief where an agent can hold meta-beliefs and reason about them and other world knowledge efficiently. It is also shown how the model can be extended to include positive introspection without losing efficiency.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/81","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/0081.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/81.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/bibtex/81","volume":{"slug":"1987","title":"Proceedings of the Tenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1987","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/","year":1987,"location":"Milan, Italy","dates":"","editors":"John McDermott","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Knowledge Representation","track":"Knowledge Representation","number":81,"pages":{"first":402,"last":408},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
