This methodology decomposes a control system into a set of loosely coupled task achieving behaviors. In this paper we show how the constraints inherent in this approach naturally lead to a very simple computational design. To demonstrate its effectiveness we have built a new, small, fast robot based on these ideas. In this paper we discuss the performance of this robot and the theory behind its construction.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/227","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/0227.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/227.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/bibtex/227","volume":{"slug":"1987","title":"Proceedings of the Tenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1987","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/","year":1987,"location":"Milan, Italy","dates":"","editors":"John McDermott","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Robotics","track":"Robotics","number":227,"pages":{"first":1124,"last":1125},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
