The axiomatic description of causal connections between actions and changes allows us to solve the qualification problem and the frame problem using only simple forms of circumscription. The method is applied to the Hanks-McDermott shooting problem and to a blocks world in which blocks can be moved and painted.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/199","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/0199.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/199.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/bibtex/199","volume":{"slug":"1987","title":"Proceedings of the Tenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1987","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/","year":1987,"location":"Milan, Italy","dates":"","editors":"John McDermott","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Reasoning","track":"Reasoning","number":199,"pages":{"first":966,"last":971},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
