Unlike Rn, the new models can represent a bounded region of space using only finitely many cells, so they can be manipulated directly. Unlike zn, they have useful notions of function continuity and region connectedness. Finally, the topology of space is allowed to depend on the situation being represented, accounting for sharp changes in function values and Jack of connectedness across object boundaries.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/145","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/0145.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/145.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/bibtex/145","volume":{"slug":"1987","title":"Proceedings of the Tenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1987","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/","year":1987,"location":"Milan, Italy","dates":"","editors":"John McDermott","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Perception","track":"Perception","number":145,"pages":{"first":728,"last":729},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
