It is shown that multiple paradigms can be incorporated without disturbing logic programming language features and efficiency. It also introduces a new programming paradigm called the relation-oriented paradigm. The research results are reflected in the implementation of the Prolog-based knowledge programming system PEACE, which is used to realize an expert system in a diagnostic domain. PEACE provides a relation-oriented programming paradigm, as well as previously discussed paradigms, such as object-oriented, data-oriented, and rule-oriented paradigms. These paradigms are nicely amalgamated in Prolog language and can be used intermixedly.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/14","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/0014.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/14.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/bibtex/14","volume":{"slug":"1987","title":"Proceedings of the Tenth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1987","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1987/","year":1987,"location":"Milan, Italy","dates":"","editors":"John McDermott","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Architectures and Languages","track":"Architectures and Languages","number":14,"pages":{"first":76,"last":81},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
