Intuitively, the fit between two shapes in a given spatial configuration is a statement about how much one shape needs to mutilated in order to be made identical to the other. The freedom of one object with respect to another specifies what motions the first object can go through without the second one moving. The formulations, termed naive kinematic8, are compared to work that was done in the kinematics of machinery in the 19th century and that has since been somewhat neglected.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/85","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/0085.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/85.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/bibtex/85","volume":{"slug":"1985","title":"Proceedings of the Ninth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1985","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/","year":1985,"location":"Los Angeles, California, USA","dates":"","editors":"Aravind Joshi","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Knowledge Representation","track":"Knowledge Representation","number":85,"pages":{"first":436,"last":441},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
