One important area is in the use of more basic, deep knowledge as an enhancement to the shallow, surface knowledge commonly employed. The Integrated Diagnostic Model attempts to exploit the use of both types of knowledge by fitting the appropriate knowledge representation and utilization techniques to each. The result is two separate and independent expert systems which are then integrated and controlled by a higher-level module called the executor.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/83","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/0083.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/83.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/bibtex/83","volume":{"slug":"1985","title":"Proceedings of the Ninth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1985","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/","year":1985,"location":"Los Angeles, California, USA","dates":"","editors":"Aravind Joshi","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Expert Systems","track":"Expert Systems","number":83,"pages":{"first":426,"last":430},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
