It is an extension of the Horn clause sub se l of fJ.rsl order logic, and is distinguished by its use of non-numeric certainties and the assignment of certainti es to logical formulae rather than events. Model theoretic and fixpoint semantics are sketched for this language . An implementation in the logic programming language Prolog is described and the advantages of the svstem are discussed . Key words : Plausible reasoning , probability, expert systems , logic programming.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/59","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/0059.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/59.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/bibtex/59","volume":{"slug":"1985","title":"Proceedings of the Ninth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1985","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/","year":1985,"location":"Los Angeles, California, USA","dates":"","editors":"Aravind Joshi","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Expert Systems","track":"Expert Systems","number":59,"pages":{"first":315,"last":316},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
