We explore the ways in which case-based reasoning can help in problem solving. According to our model, transfer of knowledge between cases is guided largely by the problem solving process itself. Our model shows the interactions between problem solving processes and memory for experience. Our computer program, called the MEDIATOR, illustrates case-based reasoning in interpreting and resolving common sense disputes.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/53","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/0053.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/53.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/bibtex/53","volume":{"slug":"1985","title":"Proceedings of the Ninth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1985","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/","year":1985,"location":"Los Angeles, California, USA","dates":"","editors":"Aravind Joshi","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Cognitive Modelling","track":"Cognitive Modelling","number":53,"pages":{"first":284,"last":289},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
