Particularly, it is shown that assessing a zero value or a very small value may lead to very different results. Moreover a comparison with a possibility theory-based approach in case of conflicting information is provided. The general problem of representing uncertainty with one or several numbers IS addressed. Lastly, the propagation of uncertainty from a fact and \"if. .. then •.• \" rule is discussed in the framework of belief functions .","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/20","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/0020.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/20.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/bibtex/20","volume":{"slug":"1985","title":"Proceedings of the Ninth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1985","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/","year":1985,"location":"Los Angeles, California, USA","dates":"","editors":"Aravind Joshi","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Automated Reasoning","track":"Automated Reasoning","number":20,"pages":{"first":111,"last":112},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
