This f1·amework genera lizes previous work on cooperation withont communication, and shows t}u~ ability of communication to resolve conflicts among agents having disparate goals. Using a deal-making mechanism, agents are able to coordinate and cooperate more easily than in the communicat.ion-free model. In addition, there are certain types of interactions where communication makes possible mutually bcn~ficial activity that is otherwise impossible to coordinate.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/17","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/0017.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/17.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/bibtex/17","volume":{"slug":"1985","title":"Proceedings of the Ninth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1985","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1985/","year":1985,"location":"Los Angeles, California, USA","dates":"","editors":"Aravind Joshi","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Automated Reasoning","track":"Automated Reasoning","number":17,"pages":{"first":91,"last":98},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
