First, we describe the requirements to Semantic Nets in the context of production data bases. Next we describe the automated mapping between the Semantic Net and (possibly several) DBMSs. Further we show how this formal and machine accessible mapping allows to execute formally structured English Queries, and formulate expert rules in a data base context. Implementation status and research directions for these ideas are given resp. suggested.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/75","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/0075.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/75.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/bibtex/75","volume":{"slug":"1983","title":"Proceedings of the Eighth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1983","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/","year":1983,"location":"Karlsruhe, West Germany","dates":"","editors":"Alan Bundy","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Knowledge Representation","track":"Knowledge Representation","number":75,"pages":{"first":325,"last":328},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
