Since most systems involve change, qualitative dynamics plays a central role in such deductions. This paper presents a theory of measurement interpretation at an instant, based on Qualita tive Process Theory. Appropriate notions of measurement and interpretation arc defined and the computational issues involved in constructing interpretations are examined. After describing an algorithm and illustrating its use by example, possible extensions to interpreting measurements over time will be discussed.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/73","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/0073.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/73.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/bibtex/73","volume":{"slug":"1983","title":"Proceedings of the Eighth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1983","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/","year":1983,"location":"Karlsruhe, West Germany","dates":"","editors":"Alan Bundy","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Knowledge Representation","track":"Knowledge Representation","number":73,"pages":{"first":315,"last":319},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
