A new representation of two-dimensional geography was developed for this program. 0bjects are represented by sets of polygons; their boundaries, by sets of directed edges. The relative positions of objects are determined by connecting edges. A truth conditional semantics for this representation is presented, its strengths and weaknesses are evaluated, and it is com pared to other AI representations of shape and position.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/70","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/0070.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/70.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/bibtex/70","volume":{"slug":"1983","title":"Proceedings of the Eighth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1983","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/","year":1983,"location":"Karlsruhe, West Germany","dates":"","editors":"Alan Bundy","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Knowledge Representation","track":"Knowledge Representation","number":70,"pages":{"first":295,"last":300},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
