A diagna~tiQ approach to fault localization has proven effective in the domains of medicine and digital hardware. Applying this approach to the software domain requires two extensions: a heuristic abstraction mechanism which infers program function from structure using recognition and transformation tactics; and a search · mechanism which integrates both prototypic and causal reasoning about faults.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/6","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/0006.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/6.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/bibtex/6","volume":{"slug":"1983","title":"Proceedings of the Eighth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1983","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/","year":1983,"location":"Karlsruhe, West Germany","dates":"","editors":"Alan Bundy","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Automatic Programming","track":"Automatic Programming","number":6,"pages":{"first":29,"last":30},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
