Medical Plan-Analysis: The Attending System
Proceedings of the Eighth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence. Expert Systems. Pages 239-240.
Abstract
The ATTENDING system has been developed to critique a ph ys ician's plan of a nesthetic mana g ement, and is currently being used e x perimentall y for teachin g anesthesia residents. ATTENDING's approach, Medical Pl a n- Analysis, offers a number of potential social, medical, and medicolegal advantages over systems which simulate a physician's decision~makin g process, and which therefore have th e c linical effect of trying to tell a physician how to practice medicine. Central to Medical Plan-Analy s is is the need to identify, assess, and discuss any pertinent risks and risk trad e offs.
