Two issues arise in the application of expert systems to the analysis of sensor-based data: spurious readings and se nsor degradation . PDS implemen ts techniques called retrospective analysis and meta-diagnosis as solutions to these problems. These techniques and our experiences in knowledge ac quisition in a large organization, and the implementation of PDS as a portable diagnostic tool are described.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/36","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/0036.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/36.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/bibtex/36","volume":{"slug":"1983","title":"Proceedings of the Eighth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1983","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/","year":1983,"location":"Karlsruhe, West Germany","dates":"","editors":"Alan Bundy","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Expert Systems","track":"Expert Systems","number":36,"pages":{"first":158,"last":162},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
