In this paper a hierarchical stochastic labeling technique to do shape matching of 2-D occluded objects is presented. The technique explicitly maximizes a criterion function based on theambiguity and inconsistency of classification. The 2-D shapes are represented by their polygonal approximation. For each of the objects participating in the occlusion, there is a hierarchical process. These processes are executed in parallel and are coordinated in such a way that the same segment of the apparent object, formed as a result of occlusion of two or more actual objects, is not matched to the segments of different actual objects. Results are presented when two or three objects partially occlude.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/264","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/0264.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/264.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/bibtex/264","volume":{"slug":"1983","title":"Proceedings of the Eighth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1983","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/","year":1983,"location":"Karlsruhe, West Germany","dates":"","editors":"Alan Bundy","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Vision","track":"Vision","number":264,"pages":{"first":1136,"last":1137},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
