All components of the system use a message-passing contra 1 structure. A genera 1 advantage of this form of control is that it allows the flexible integration of diverse knowledge sources. The parser transmits sub-sentential constituents for semantic interpret~tion. A pseudo-parallel version of the left-corner parsing algorithm with top-down filtering is used. As blind transmission would send spurious constituents, a delay mechanism is used to queue constituents until all alternativeanalyses of a segment have been completed.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/166","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/0166.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/166.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/bibtex/166","volume":{"slug":"1983","title":"Proceedings of the Eighth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1983","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1983/","year":1983,"location":"Karlsruhe, West Germany","dates":"","editors":"Alan Bundy","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Natural Language","track":"Natural Language","number":166,"pages":{"first":690,"last":691},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
