Abstract

Learning Theory is the study of systems that impl eme nt functions from e vidential sta t es to theories. The theoretical framework de veloped in the th e ory makes po ss ibl e t he comparison of c la sses of algorithms whi c h embody distinct l ea l'n ing s trat eg i es along a variety of dimensions. S uch comparisons yield v aluab le information to tho se concerned with in f e r e nce problems in Cogniti ve Sc it!nce a nd Artifi c ial Intelligence. Th e present pa p er employs the fr amework of Learning Theory to s tudy the design spec ifica t ions of inductive systems which are of interest in the domain of l a ng ua g e acquisition .
