Text Plans and World Plans in Natural Discourse
Proceedings of the Seventh International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence. Cognitive Science. Pages 190-195.
Abstract
Discourse is both about the world and an accomplishment in the wo~ This fact has led t o two approaches-to the study of discourse in artificial intelligence, one investigating "text plans", the other "world plans". By analyzing a fra gme nt of a narrative in which both kinds of plans figure importantly, we explore the relationship between the two kinds of plans, looking toward a synthesis of the two approaches.
