The on-line system PAPE does this as follows, an example (data + trace) is given. PAPE first checks whether the already learned procedure gives the same trace with the given input data. If not, the trace is transformed into a procedure body (in O(tp) time, where t it is the length of the trace, and, p an integer depending upon the procedure and the basic functions and predicates), and then merges this body with the actual one to get the new procedure body.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1981/191","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1981/0191.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1981/191.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1981/bibtex/191","volume":{"slug":"1981","title":"Proceedings of the Seventh International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1981","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1981/","year":1981,"location":"Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada","dates":"24-28 August 1981","editors":"Roger C.
