## Abstract

RRA Nil x is a simple representation language implemented as a pure exten sion of I.ISP . BRAND X provides the following additional facilities over I.I SP: Uniqut and canonical stru ctures. properly /isis for all objects, labels for all o bje cts . and a sy ntax to expre ss each of these . supponed by a rea der and printer. BRAND x is intended as an "assembly language" for repr ese ntati on lan gu a ges , attempting to provide facilities generally found use ful in th e simpl est manner, without any strong commitme nt to specific represe nt a ti o nal co nventions. The fund amental ideas of the language are d esc rib ed, an ove rvi ew of its featur es and no lltti on is given , and some inherent p ro blem s of impl ementation and sem a ntics are presented.
