It is an attempt to combine, in a simple coherent framework, the most important features of Lisp, actor languages such as Act 1 and SmallTalk, and logic programming languages such as Prolog. Among the unusual abilities of the language is its ability to use the same program as a function, an inverse function, a predicate, a pattern, or a generator. All of these uses can be performed upon concrete, symbolic, and partially instantiated data. Uniform features automatic inheritance from multiple super classes, facilities for manipulation of programs, a limited ability to determine program equivalence, and a unification-oriented database.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1981/178","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1981/0178.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1981/178.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1981/bibtex/178","volume":{"slug":"1981","title":"Proceedings of the Seventh International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1981","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1981/","year":1981,"location":"Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada","dates":"24-28 August 1981","editors":"Roger C.
