Unfortunately, traditional image registration techniques tend to be costly. We present a new image registration technique that makes use of the spatiahntensity gradient of the images to find a good match using a type of Newton-Raphson iteration. Our technique is taster because it examines tar fewer potenrial matches between the images than existing techniques. Furthermore, this registration technique can be generalized to handle rotation, scaling and shearing. We. show how our technique can be adapted tor use in a stereo vision system.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1981/127","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1981/0127.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1981/127.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1981/bibtex/127","volume":{"slug":"1981","title":"Proceedings of the Seventh International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1981","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1981/","year":1981,"location":"Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada","dates":"24-28 August 1981","editors":"Roger C.
