The model details the functional components felt to be essential for any learning system, independent of the techniques used for its construction, and the specific environment in which it operates. These components are performance element, instance selectori critic, learning element, blackboard, and wor d model. Consideration of learning system design leads naturally to the concept of a layered system, each layer operating at a different level of abstraction.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1977/76","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1977/0076.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1977/76.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1977/bibtex/76","volume":{"slug":"1977","title":"Proceedings of the Fifth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1977","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1977/","year":1977,"location":"Cambridge, MA, USA","dates":"","editors":"Raj Reddy","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Knowledge Acquisition","track":"Knowledge Acquisition","number":76,"pages":{"first":338,"last":342},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
