## Abstract

-Representihg English adjectives and ad verbs using a lugically perspicuous nutation (extended semantic networks, Schubert 1974) and th eir accomodatiun within a state-based paradigm (Cercune, 1975) are discussed. Where appropriate, explicit comparisons are made with related approaches such as those uf Schank (1972 1974), Montague (1972) 1 Bartsch and Vennemann {1972), Zadeh (1972), ana Reichenbach (1947).
