The system was designed for use with a natural language system for finding the correct senses of ambiguous words in context. An examination of several linguistic examples shows how the representation system facilitates associative searches of context for potentially appropriate senses of ambiguous words, and how the results of such searches can often provide definite referents. The system also embodies novel approaches to the representation of multiple subparts, and of similar, but different, entities.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1977/18","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1977/0018.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1977/18.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1977/bibtex/18","volume":{"slug":"1977","title":"Proceedings of the Fifth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1977","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1977/","year":1977,"location":"Cambridge, MA, USA","dates":"","editors":"Raj Reddy","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Natural Language","track":"Natural Language","number":18,"pages":{"first":99,"last":106},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
