It is not that the application of the heuristic search can by itself solve the problems at the heart of the computer chess, but that representing these problems within the formalism of the heuristic search will further their common solution. A separate search heuristic is proposed that does offer a common solution to the problems of quies~ence, sacrifices, and plan oriented play.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1975/51","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1975/0051.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1975/51.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1975/bibtex/51","volume":{"slug":"1975","title":"Proceedings of the Fourth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1975","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1975/","year":1975,"location":"Tbilisi, Georgia, USSR","dates":"","editors":"Patrick Winston and Carl Hewitt","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Search Techniques","track":"Search Techniques","number":51,"pages":{"first":334,"last":338},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
