Synthesis Of LISP Functions From Examples
Proceedings of the Fourth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence. Learning Debugging And Automatic Programming. Pages 240-244.
Abstract
A system, called GAP, which automatically produces LISP functions from example computations is described. GAP uses a knowledge of LISP progr8.11111ing to inductively infer the LISP function 'obviously' intended by a given 1 iopair 1 (i.e. a single input to be presented to the function and the output which must result). The system is written in R>PCORN (a OONNIVER-like extension of R>P2) and represents its knowledge of LISP procedurally.
