A Model Of Human Cognitive Behavior in Writing Code For Computer Programs
Proceedings of the Fourth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence. Psychological Aspects Of A.I.. Pages 878-883.
Abstract
A theory of human cognitive processes in writing code for computer programs is presented which views behavior in terms of three processes: understanding, planning, and coding. Using this theory, a model of the coding process haa been created which reproduces the code generation behavior of an experienced, human programmer working on a set of 23 FORTRAN problems. The model is stated as a computer program organized as a production system.
