This paper discusses the design of a program which will tolerate a wide variety of requests including ones with pronouns and referential phrases. The system embodies a certain amount of common sense, so that for example, it knows when it does or does not understand a particular request and it can bypass actual data base search in answering unreasonable requests. The system is conceptually simple and could be easily adapted to other data bases.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1975/137","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1975/0137.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1975/137.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1975/bibtex/137","volume":{"slug":"1975","title":"Proceedings of the Fourth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1975","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1975/","year":1975,"location":"Tbilisi, Georgia, USSR","dates":"","editors":"Patrick Winston and Carl Hewitt","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Miscellaneous Applications Of A.I.","track":"Miscellaneous Applications Of A.I.","number":137,"pages":{"first":868,"last":871},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
