AL includes an ALGOL-like source language, a translator for converting programs into runnable code, and a runtime system for controlling manipulators and other devices. The system includes advanced features for describing the motions of manipulators, for using sensory information, and for describing assembly algorithms in terms of common domain-specific primitives. This paper describes the design of AL, which is currently being implemented as a successor to the Stanford WAVE system.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1975/120","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1975/0120.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1975/120.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1975/bibtex/120","volume":{"slug":"1975","title":"Proceedings of the Fourth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1975","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1975/","year":1975,"location":"Tbilisi, Georgia, USSR","dates":"","editors":"Patrick Winston and Carl Hewitt","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Robots And Productivity Technology","track":"Robots And Productivity Technology","number":120,"pages":{"first":758,"last":764},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[{"position":1,"raw":"and Paul] R.
