Progress has been made in various aspects of the hardware (including the chassis, communications controller, and onboard microprocessor) and software (including problem-solving programs and world models). A particular experiment, analogous to the classical \"Monkey and Bananas\" Problem, is described. A major feature of the reformulation of this problem is the use of Decision Analysis in coping with uncertainty. Based on the accumulated expected costs of executing the steps of various hypothetical plans, Jason can evaluate the relative merits of direct action versus prior information-gathering using potentially unreliable sensors.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1975/119","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1975/0119.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1975/119.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1975/bibtex/119","volume":{"slug":"1975","title":"Proceedings of the Fourth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1975","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1975/","year":1975,"location":"Tbilisi, Georgia, USSR","dates":"","editors":"Patrick Winston and Carl Hewitt","isbn":"","publisher":"International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence","doi_prefix":""},"section":"Robots And Productivity Technology","track":"Robots And Productivity Technology","number":119,"pages":{"first":749,"last":756},"keywords":[],"videos":[],"references":[],"license_note":"Copyright International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence."}
