The semantics of these constructions is explored in the context of the tictac-toe game playing setting of Davies and Isard {1972). Even in this limited setting, the implementations of these constructions are quite nontrivial, suggesting that such restricted settings provide a good testing ground for many key linguistic problems. Descriptive terms: language understanding systems, semantics, game playing, predicate complement constructions, presuppositions.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1973/45","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1973/0045.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1973/45.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1973/bibtex/45","volume":{"slug":"1973","title":"Proceedings of the Third International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1973","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1973/","year":1973,"location":"Stanford, California, USA","dates":"20-23 August 1973","editors":"Nils J.
