Mechanical Inference Problems in Continuous Speech Understanding
Proceedings of the Third International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence. Natural Language: Speech. Pages 200-206.
Abstract
This paper presents and discusses examples of mechanical inference problems which nust be solved in order to construct effective mechanical speech understanding systems. The examples are taken from incremental simulations of a prototype speech understanding systen 'YThich will use syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic information as well as acoustical and phonological information to mechanically "understand" continuous speech utterances.
