The range finder employs a vertical slit projecter which projects a light beam on the objects. While the beam is moved in a field of view, the picture at each instant is picked up by a TV camera. The distance to each point can be obtained by means of trigonometrical calculation. The recognition procedure using thus obtained information is free from the effects of the arrangement and shadow of objects.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1971/9","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1971/0009.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1971/9.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1971/bibtex/9","volume":{"slug":"1971","title":"Proceedings of the Second International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1971","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1971/","year":1971,"location":"London, UK","dates":"","editors":"D.C.
