Because the images are not exact replicas . but rather noisy and perhaps geometrically distorted versions of the original scenes, it is necessary to develop a body of theory capable of providing answers to questions concerning effects of various types of error, and means for minimizing th-e effects of such errors . This paper presents a \"decision space\" approach to the problem for dealing with small amounts of noise and distortion, and a promising new technique for dealing with \"rubber sheet\" distortion.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1971/10","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1971/0010.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1971/10.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1971/bibtex/10","volume":{"slug":"1971","title":"Proceedings of the Second International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1971","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1971/","year":1971,"location":"London, UK","dates":"","editors":"D.C.
