The resultant software has successfully simulated robot operation. Three basic types of software modules are assumed as elements. These accept input stimuli and generate de tailed strings of motor response \"units\" to attain design goals. A complex process of interaction between the modules perm its the consideration of many alternative actions while focusing attention on a selected set of input signals. · The organization is shown to have especially flexible characteristics adapted to robot control and permits a recursive definition of some of the modules. Brief comparisons with other robot systems in being indicate some o f the relationships between the different design approaches so far proposed.","doi":null,"url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1969/46","pdf":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1969/0046.pdf","markdown":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1969/46.md","bibtex":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1969/bibtex/46","volume":{"slug":"1969","title":"Proceedings of the First International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence","short_title":"IJCAI 1969","url":"https://ijcai.org/proceedings/1969/","year":1969,"location":"Washington, DC, USA","dates":"May 7-9, 1969","editors":"Donald E.
