The International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI) is the premier international forum to report scientific and technological advances in the field of intelligent system technologies. IJCAI conferences are sponsored by IJCAI Inc., the leading international AI organisation, which is managed by a Board of Trustees selected from leading international AI researchers. IJCAI has been held every two years since 1969 in countries of North America, Europe, Japan and Australia. IJCAI-03 will be held for the first time in Latin America and will take place in Acapulco Mexico, August 9-15, 2003. The prestigious National AI Conference, AAAI, organized annually by the American Association for Artificial Intelligence will not be held in 2003 in order to support the organization of IJCAI-03.

The research reported in IJCAI conferences has resulted in numerous scientific and technological contributions to the fields of computing, engineering, medicine, management, robotics, information technologies, knowledge and intelligent technologies.
